We planned to leave Sydney at 3.30am Wed morning but the best laid plans always fall apart and this was one of them days. As I was pulling my fully laden sporty out of the garage I knocked my Speedo and broke it clean off, so out came the hammer and off came the rest of the speedo and away I went.
To Roberts’ credit he met us on the expressway at 3.30am for a prayer and to say a few words of encouragement after which Peter, Mick and myself hit the road.
10 hours later we were at Nerang QLD at “Gold Coast Bike Week” after setting up our tents and getting sorted we made our way around the huge site. My first impression was that we were in for one great time, bikes everywhere and of all makes.
